A backconnect proxy gives you one stable proxy address, while the provider swaps the outbound IP in the background.

Run that request multiple times and you may see different source IPs, even though your client is still talking to the same proxy gateway.

That is the appeal: one integration point, rotating IPs, less proxy list management.
Practical tips
- Do not assume rotation alone solves blocking: sites also look at cookies, TLS fingerprinting, headers, request pacing, and account behavior.
- Check how the provider rotates: every request, time-based session, sticky session, and geo-targeted pool all behave differently.
- Watch failure patterns in production: some backconnect pools look big on paper but collapse under concurrency, retries, or specific targets.
- Be careful with stateful flows: login, cart, pagination, and multi-step actions usually need a sticky session, not random IP changes.
- Measure cost properly: cheap rotating access can get expensive fast if bad IP quality causes retries and wasted requests.
- If you are using ScrapeRouter, this is mostly the point of having a router layer: you do not just want rotating IPs, you want provider routing, failover, and less time babysitting proxy behavior.
Use cases
- Large-scale scraping: rotating requests across many IPs to reduce rate limits and obvious single-IP patterns.
- Geo-targeted collection: sending traffic through IPs from specific countries or cities when results depend on location.
- Ad verification and SERP monitoring: checking what users actually see from different networks and regions.
- Account or session isolation: separating traffic so one bad session does not poison everything behind a single static IP.
- Proxy abstraction: giving your scraper one endpoint instead of constantly refreshing and testing raw proxy lists.
